The ancient Egyptians were prolific users of healing crystals. Native American cultures have made extensive use of the protective and healing power of many crystals. These and countless other cultures were in touch with the land, the earth, and their place as people in the natural world. Over the last five thousand years, mystics and magi have repeated taught us that we are as much a part of the earth as the rocks and trees. We ignore their wisdom at our peril. While we have learned from many cultures, an important part of our wisdom has come to us from India.
The Chakras are the locations where the subtle energies meet that power the human body and spirit. These meeting places are swirling vortices of energy. When they are in balance the organism is healthy. When they are out of balance, disease and sickness results. Each of the seven chakras deals with particular areas of functions of both the body and the spirit. Modern usage focuses on the seven chakras, assigns them colors consistent with nature’s rainbow, and concentrates on the interaction of the energy flows at theses major intersections. Today’s crystal healers focus on discovering the imbalances in the body and spirits energy flows then repairing blockages and re balancing the energy flows. The first step is understanding which chakra(s) are out of balance.

Once that is determined, and there are a variety of methods crystal healers employ, then the crystal healing treatment can be accomplished. The methods for determine the imbalance are usually straightforward and usually involve the simple expedient of understanding the complaints of the patient and combining that with knowledge of the roles of each chakra. While some crystal techniques such as using a pendulum are employed, usually the healer learns by simply listening, and careful questioning. Secure with the knowledge of where the imbalances and blockages are located, crystal healers use a wide variety of techniques and layouts to channel the Universal Life Force to the affected Chakra. Some use the power within the stone, others use the crystals as conduits and amplifiers of their own healing powers. Both approaches can be very beneficial. For this introduction, we will focus on the relatively simple “laying on of stones.”
To use this healing technique, review the seven Chakras. Click on each of the circles in the picture above. From your review, determine which chakra or chakras are out of balance and blocking energy. Lie down in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Clear your mind, take a suitable crystal (one of the Chakra’s color) and apply it to the chakra area. Now breathe slowly and purposefully for 5 to 10 minutes focused on simply being and breathing. Let the crystal power work. After the time is up, focus on the chakra for a few minutes and determine when the treatment will be needed again. Usually crystal therapy takes two or three sessions for good effectiveness.
