Introduction to the Chakras - Vortexes of the Body's Life Energy

Hindu healingCrystal Healing has a long and colorful history. Medicine men, shamans, and all kinds of magicians, holy men, and healers have used the power of crystals in all manners of ways.

Tribal cultures have worked with stones to see the future, communicate with ancestors, and heal the sick.

The ancient Egyptians were prolific users of healing crystals. Native American cultures have made extensive use of the protective and healing power of many crystals. These and countless other cultures were in touch with the land, the earth, and their place as people in the natural world. Over the last five thousand years, mystics and magi have repeated taught us that we are as much a part of the earth as the rocks and trees. We ignore their wisdom at our peril.

While we have learned from many cultures, an important part of our wisdom has come to us from India.

The Chakras are the locations where the subtle energies meet that power the human body and spirit. These meeting places are swirling vortices of energy.

When they are in balance the organism is healthy.

When they are out of balance, disease and sickness results.

Once that is determined, and there are a variety of methods crystal healers employ, then the crystal healing treatment can be accomplished.

While some crystal techniques such as using a pendulum are employed, usually the healer learns by simply listening, and careful questioning.

Secure with the knowledge of where the imbalances and blockages are located, crystal healers use a wide variety of techniques and layouts to channel the Universal Life Force to the affected Chakra. Some use the power within the stone, others use the crystals as conduits and amplifiers of their own healing powers. Both approaches can be very beneficial. For this introduction, we will focus on the relatively simple "laying on of stones."

Laying on of stones involves using the inherent Life Force found in the crystals to effect the re balancing of the chakra by placing the crystal(s) on or near the chakra, then leaving them there for a period of time to effect the re balancing and unblocking. Again, while there are many patterns and layouts that can be used, the simple application of a suitable crystal to the chakra area for a 5-10 minute period can be very effective. Sometimes the simple approach works best. While it might not be best in all cases, the simple laying on of stones has been found to be highly effective for many healers. Since it is a "self-help" method, it is one approach anyone can use.

To use this healing technique, review the seven Chakras. Click on each of the circles in the picture above. From your review, determine which chakra or chakras are out of balance and blocking energy. Lie down in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Clear your mind, take a suitable crystal (one of the Chakra's color) and apply it to the chakra area. Now breathe slowly and purposefully for 5 to 10 minutes focused on simply being and breathing. Let the crystal power work. After the time is up, focus on the chakra for a few minutes and determine when the treatment will be needed again. Usually crystal therapy takes two or three sessions for good effectiveness.
