UV Reactive Lapis Lazuli Rough Crystal (M)
Description: UV Reactive Lapis Lazuli Rough Crystal. Deep and radiant blue rays will serve you with positive energies. Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue metamorphic rock that contains Lazurite, Calcite, Sodalite, and Pyrite.
Fluorescence occurs when a particular wavelength of light, such as ultraviolet (UV) light, electron beams, or x-rays, is focused on a mineral. This light stimulates the mineral’s electrons, forcing them to move momentarily to a higher orbit. A small amount of energy is released in the form of a different wavelength of light than what is being flashed onto the electron when it returns to its original orbit. The result is a visible alteration in the mineral’s color, which is the fluorescence phenomenon.
Only approximately 10% of minerals exhibit visible fluorescence to humans, and even then, only in certain quantities of “activators” (metal cations). Various metal activators will result in various colors.
