Lesson 4 - Crystal Healing (part 9)
On the Color Wheel of Life, we now turn to Scarlet.
Scarlet combines the energy of the pure red ray and the exuberance and joy of the orange in a precious gift of nature. Scarlet is the color of strength and vitality, both physical and spiritual.
Scarlet crystals are the natural birthstones of those born in the first month of autumn (September 23 – October 21).
Use scarlet crystals when you need protection from physical harm. Travelers, watchmen, and all who have occasion to fear personal harm from attack or misfortune are well advised to use a scarlet crystal to focus their efforts on self-protection. It usually should be used with a dark green talisman for safety from accidents.
Use scarlet-colored crystals in an effort to overcome fear and improve self-reliance. They are the crystals of victory, success, and skill. When your challenge is physical, and you need to focus and multiply your physical strength and stamina, use a crystal with the scarlet ray of influence.
Scarlet
Athletes, soldiers, workers, and all for whom physical strength is vital can benefit from the rays of a scarlet crystal. Workout efforts can be enhanced and an overall increase in vitality will be observed with the careful use of scarlet crystals. Weight lifters, bodybuilders, and track and field competitors can benefit significantly from these crystals.
Use Scarlet crystals for bravery, conquering fear, physical prowess, protection, self-reliance, physical skill, victory, overcoming fright, overcoming dependency, and dealing with repression.
Deep scarlet crystals are the key to the physical pleasures of maturity—in love, in life, and in relationships. Muted with shades of black, brown, blue, or violet, deep scarlet crystals give us natural sources of energy to enjoy life’s pleasures that extend past the joyfulness of youth. Enjoying life in maturity requires vitality.
Use dark scarlet crystals for increasing assertiveness and physical energy, for revitalization, to cure apathy, to ward off curses, and to cure laziness, and self-pity
Lighter shades of scarlet—the lightly tinted red oranges—are excellent for use in crystals of dedication in young relationships. They combine the pink energy of romantic love with the light orange energy of contentment with family and friends. Light scarlet crystals are unique aids to the newly in love, the new family, or the new relationship.
Light scarlet crystals have an additional power: increasing willpower and dedication to a difficult mental effort. There are many temptations we wish to resist at one time or another. For many, excess weight is a constant battle. We seem to never be able to keep it off. If you are in need of focus and the ability to say no and really mean it, use a light scarlet crystal in your efforts. Among their many uses, the scarlet crystals are the Dieter’s Stone.

Lesson 4 - Crystal Healing (part 10)
In our journey around the Color Wheel, we are now coming to the color red as we learn how to use our crystals for crystal healing.
Red is the color of passion, energy, and life. It motivates. It is a very strong color—the color of fire and blood. It is emotionally intense and affects humans by raising their blood pressure and speeding up their metabolism.
Red is a call to action, a battle cry, and a sign of warning. It excites us, raises our enthusiasm, and gives us energy. Red is the natural birthstone of those born in mid-autumn (October 22–November 20).
Red crystals are used when the situation needs passion: active, involved, energetic action. Red empowers, uplifts, and engulfs. It cures apathy. It gets things done. Red is action and drive.
Red
If you are suffering from a lack of power, listlessness, or a low emotional state, you need more red. Like the scarlet ray, the red ray brings us self-confidence built on fearlessness. When the need is for action without hesitation or self-doubt, use a crystal with a fiery ray of bright red.
We use red crystals for increasing energy, building conviction, developing courage, becoming fearless, growing our inner strength, building drive, and achieving glory.
In lighter shades of red (usually with some light orange mixed in), like pink, the strong passion and power are toned down to subtle, feminine aspects. This is the color ray of determination, commitment, and caring.
Simply, pink is love. Also, pink is a soothing color, useful for calming feelings of anger or resentment. Pink is a comfort color that can aid efforts to meditate.
Use the pink crystals in your efforts to find love, discover romance, cure heartache, deal with loss, and to show love.
In darker shades, red is tinted with brown or black. Here the power of the color ray is not muted but mixed with darker and more earthy, powerful overtones of brown or the power and mystery of black.
Dark red stones are crystals of very hard, durable energy and quiet passion. Strong, deep feelings call for a strong, deep-red crystal. Dark red is a masculine color.
Dark red rays of influence have a wide variety of uses. The dark red stones are particularly useful for increasing devotion and seeing the seriousness of life.
They have a power similar to the light scarlet stones in their ability to amplify our tenacity and dedication, particularly in physical efforts.
Our healing uses of dark red stones include building passion, and devotion, finding a soul mate, making a relationship serious, and aiding in important emotional quests and goals.
There are a number of red crystals and stones that are not expensive and are readily available. These include Red Aventurine, Red Jade, Rose Quartz, Ruby, and Red Jasper.
Red Aventurine
Aventurine is a variety of quartz characterized by bright inclusions of Mica or other minerals that give a shimmering or glistening effect to the stone. It is referred to as aventurescence and is especially notable when tumbled or polished.
Red Aventurine is a “can do” stone of vitality. Use to regain physical strength when recovering from illness or injury,
Wearing Aventurine absorbs electromagnetic smog and guards against environmental pollution.
Aventurine may be made into an elixir to drink or used in ablutions by soaking a stone fragment in demineralized water overnight (we recommend the indirect method). It is reported to be highly beneficial for fighting eczema, rosacea, juvenile acne, and other skin problems.
Aventurine is ideal for soothing quick tempers or brutal temperaments, and can greatly diminish the effects of domestic strife between spouses.
Red Jade
Red Jade is a tonic stone, invigorates all systems of the body. Jade is a powerful cleansing stone. Jade also helps stitches to bind and heal properly, and has been used to diminish cramps and "Charlie horses.”
Red Jade is the most passionate and stimulating Jade. It is associated with love and letting off steam. It allows one to access anger, but release the tension in a way that can be constructive.
Jade provides confidence and self-assuredness, self-reliance, and self-sufficiency.
Rose Quartz
The fair and lovely Rose Quartz, with its gentle pink essence, is a stone of the heart, a Crystal of Unconditional Love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness, healing, nourishment, and comfort.
The soft pink emanations of Rose Quartz comfort and heal any wounds the heart has suffered, penetrating the inner chambers of the Heart Chakra where emotional experiences are recorded and stored. It dissolves the sorrows, worries, fears, and resentments suppressing the heart's ability to give and receive love, and replaces it with healing, comfort, and inner nourishment.
Ruby
This exquisite crystal emanates the pure Red ray with a vibrancy unsurpassed in the mineral kingdom. It actively stimulates the Base Chakra, increasing vitality and chi, the life-force energy, throughout the physical body and into the spirit. It promotes a clear mind, increased concentration, and motivation, and brings a sense of power to the wearer, self-confidence, and determination that overcomes timidity and propels one toward prosperity and achievement.
Ruby initiates the sensual pleasures of life. It stirs the blood and stimulates the heart, encouraging one to enjoy being in the physical world. It increases desire and sexual energy and may be used to activate the kundalini.
Ruby also sustains and protects those with sensitive natures and distorted views of themselves or others. It overcomes fears of being “ugly” or unloved.
Ruby carries the frequency of the enlightened Base Chakra, stimulating the flow of life-force energy or chi through the body.
Red Jasper
Red Jasper is still known as the Stone of Endurance, Its steady frequency calms the emotional body creating a lasting, stable energy for improving health or overcoming illness, setting goals and following through to completion, facing unpleasant tasks, and having the courage to rectify wrongs.
Wear or carry Red Jasper to alleviate stress and reconnect with Earth’s grounding energies. Its cleansing effect eliminates negativity, returning it to its source, and stabilizing the aura. It is an ideal worry or rubbing stone for soothing the nerves and restoring balance. Wear two or three items of Red Jasper jewelry or a pouch of three small tumbled stones to shield against psychic attack.
The Base Chakra
The Root, or BaseChakra, is located at the base of the spine and controls the energy for kinesthetic feeling and movement. It is the foundation of physical and spiritual energy for the body. When physically out of balance the symptoms will manifest themselves as lethargy, low levels of activity, low enthusiasm, and a need for constant stimulation. When its spiritual energies are out of balance, one will feel flighty, disconnected from reality, and distant.
When the Root Chakra is in balance, the physical body regains its strength and stamina, and the spiritual energy is rekindled in the form of security and a sense of one’s own power. It often leads to independence and spontaneous leadership.
Crystals with the red color rays are helpful in restoring balance to the Root Chakra. The benefits of just a few minutes a day with one of these crystals resting between the legs for 5 - 10 minutes are substantial.
The benefits are enhanced if the crystal therapy is augmented with Yoga positions that focus on the lower back, and with activities that connect you with nature such as hiking, gardening, rock collecting, and physical outdoor games.

Here is another one I found… A Ruby Energy Drink for Curing Laziness. The article discusses the issue of laziness and then discusses why using ruby is a good approach. Read an abridged version below.
A Ruby Energy Drink for Curing Laziness
First, we will start off by making Ruby Water. Since Ruby contains aluminum, we will have to use the indirect method to create this elixir.
Take five or six small ruby stones. Place the Ruby crystals into a clean, clear natural glass container – a glass measuring cup or water glass works well. Place 3 cups of spring water into a separate medium-sized baking dish. Place the glass containing the crystals into the spring water. Cover.
Place the container of water and crystals under direct sunlight for maximum energy transfer for several hours. After energy transfer, remove the glass containing the crystals from the container of water. Now it is ready to use for your energy drink!
Ingredients
- 3 cups hot ruby water
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoon honey + stevia to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 container of strawberries (or any berry of choice), sliced
Directions
- Mix well and chill in the fridge overnight.
- Strain to remove the berries, or enjoy them as a little snack with your drink.
This is ideal before or during a tough workout, especially one lasting longer than 60 minutes. When I’m teaching two classes in a row, I’ll chug this, alternating with water.
For a recovery drink, choose something with a mix of carbs and protein, like a small protein smoothie.
The red crystals have many uses in crystal healing.
Make them part of your regimen.
The Crystal Inner Circle has many more ideas for you to explore as you learn to gain the benefits of the fiery red crystals Mother Earth has provided.
