Lesson 4 - Crystal Healing (part 13)
We now turn the Color Wheel of Life to indigo.
Indigo is a soft color ray that is made for introspection, and crystals of this color can help you immensely in your quest for wisdom. Indigo is the color of virtue and maturity.
It is the color of the true birthstone of those born in midwinter (January 20–February 18). Indigo crystals are rare and valuable.
Indigo-colored stones combine the intuition of the violet ray with the trust of the pure blue ray. They can help you find your way to a higher plane of consciousness.
The indigo crystals are beautiful and powerful stones that will bring you reflexive awareness and comprehension of complex relationships. Indigo is also the color of judgment and long life.
Use Indigo crystals for better, more mature judgment.

Indigo
Darkened with brown, black, or blue, the deeper shades of indigo bring us closer to the deep wisdom of the dark violet rays but with the broader connection and communication openness of blue.
Dark indigo is the color of honesty. It is powerful in crystals such as tanzanite when we need to see through the efforts of deception. If you seek an honest understanding of your place in the universe a dark indigo crystal can be your guide. Dark indigo rays are the best for religious and spiritual journeys. These are the crystals of spiritual mastery, guidance, and finding the truth.
When your goals involve developing mastery of spiritual understandings and practices you should seek a beautiful dark indigo-colored crystal.
When indigo is lightened and diffused in crystals such as those of sodalite or some fluorite, then indigo becomes the ray of connection, having similar power to that of an amethyst-colored crystal.
The difference in uses is a matter of degree and intent. While amethyst connects the old to the new, the light indigo connects us to the natural world and helps us understand that connection.
To maintain a natural connection to life, to be naturally aware of your place, and to keep your soul and mind connected, use a pale indigo crystal. Use them for humility modesty and virtue.
The indigo crystals are used extensively in issues affecting the Third Eye Chakra.

The Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra, also called the Brow Chakra, is the center of perception and command. It directs our sight and everyday awareness of the world. Our consciousness is located here. "We" are here. We relate to ourselves through this chakra.
We see ourselves and the external world, interpret what we see, and are aware of ourselves and the world through the third eye chakra. This chakra interprets the world - our inner world, and the world that comes into the body, primarily through sight.
It is the code breaker, the pattern maker, and the seat of understanding. It balances the important and the unimportant, sorting meaning from data and impressions. It commands the energy flow within the body.
When the third eye chakra is in balance we see clearly and understand what we see. We are able to interpret visual cues and our perception is high. Our thoughts and internal communications with ourselves are healthy and vibrant.
We have perspectives on events and ideas. We are open to new ideas, dreams, and visions. We can be quietly observant, and reflective. We can control the flow of energy within all the chakras.
When the third eye chakra is out of balance, the whole organism suffers. Without perspective, nothing makes sense. You will be confused, and have difficulty seeing things clearly, and knowing what is important and what is not.
You will not have command of your body or your thoughts. You will suffer headaches, earaches, and vision problems. You will be unable to work through problems or puzzles. Things just won't make sense. You will be disoriented and confused.
The dark blue/purple crystals of indigo are used to treat imbalances of the brow chakra. This is the color of an empty sky, of solitude and reflection. It is a quiet color, one of mystery wisdom, and judgment.
Meditation is an essential part of balancing the third eye chakra. In fact, regular meditation is essential for maintaining its health. Indigo crystals should be held during any meditation aimed at assuring the free flow of energy within the third eye chakra.
Quiet reflection with a small indigo crystal placed on the forehead will help focus the wisdom of the indigo ray on the brow chakra releasing any blockages.

There are a number of minerals that form crystals of indigo. Iolite, Tanzanite, Indigo Gabbro, and Sodalite are the most common. Let's explore a couple of them.
Iolite

Like a crisp, dark winter sky, Iolite, in shifting shades of violet-blue carries the spirit of journey, dreams, and intuition, of exploration and illumination. It is known as the Vikings' Compass and provides the vision to move us, physically and spiritually, from one realm to the next.
Iolite helps in recovering balance and is recommended for those suffering from disorientation, lack of motivation, chronic disorganization, and distraction. It strengthens the resolve to take on responsibility and carry through, and provides self-assurance and endurance in adverse situations.] It is an excellent source of energy when used for the elimination of debt and the responsible management of money.
Iolite restores a sense of perspective to those who feel they are jinxed and inspires anyone with a chaotic life to start to bring order in small practical ways.
Iolite is a stone of the muses, activating the visionary, creative side of the mind, and accessing thoughts and ideas beyond the ordinary. It inspires creative self-expression through writing, song, movement, and other artistic endeavors.
When in the midst of adversity, Iolite helps to provide solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems. It promotes a calm, positive state of mind, instills hope and assists in decisions on how to proceed.
Tanzanite

Tanzanite is one of the most valuable of all metaphysical crystals for spiritual exploration, bringing together all aspects of communication and psychic power.
Its high vibrational energy invites protection and safety in linking with higher realms and allows for deep profound meditation. It is particularly helpful in uniting the mind and heart, teaching one to live from a compassionate heart with an illumined mind.
Tanzanite's high vibrational energy provides for deep profound meditation and for ease in entering altered states of consciousness. It facilitates inner and outer journeying and is highly conducive to linking to higher realms.
Meditating with Tanzanite opens the channels to one's spirit guides, and is a highly beneficial tool in connecting with deceased loved ones, especially in the early days of bereavement.

I think Using Indigo on a Grid for Wisdom looks interesting. Let's take a look at that.
Using Indigo on a Grid for Wisdom

The wisdom we possess comes from experience, knowledge, and good judgment that we have acquired throughout our lives. Not only does this include these components mentally but when these components are present spiritually as well, only then have we gained true wisdom. For some, the desire to obtain wisdom is an essential part of life.
The best crystal to assist you in the process of gaining wisdom is Indigo. They will also ensure that when you do find wisdom, you will be more accepting and open-minded to the information you are gaining.
By using Indigo crystals on your grid, you are attracting experience, maturity, and improved judgment. Darker shades will bring morality, honesty, and truth while simultaneously gaining spiritual guidance. Lighter shades will provide virtue, modesty, and appreciation. With these components engaged, you will establish and develop deep and meaningful wisdom that you can apply to your everyday life.
THE BEST INDIGO CRYSTALS FOR WISDOM
Two excellent crystals for your wisdom grid are Iolite and the Spiritual Awakening Aura Quartz.
Iolite provides the understanding needed to look within yourself and find hidden flaws. This provides deep self-examination. You will then be able to come to terms with them before making the changes needed. This crystal is also great for restoring harmony and joy to your life. The ideal position for this crystal is as the Desire stones.
Spiritual Awakening Aura Quartz displays Olives and Indigo color rays. Generally, the Indigo rays are present in darker shades. The Crystal Reference Guide tells us, “Darkened with brown, black, or blue, the deeper shades of indigo bring us closer to the deep wisdom of the dark violet rays but with the broader connection and communication openness of blue.
Olive-colored crystals help focus and enhance our early efforts to seek wisdom, lighting our path to understanding. Olive is the color ray of receptiveness to new meanings and ideas. Olive-colored crystals are excellent to help you at the beginning of a search for knowledge and enlightenment. Combined they produce a crystal that will help you develop and nurture your spiritual side.” The best place for this crystal is in the Focus stone spot.

Lesson 4 - Crystal Healing (part 14)
Blue is the color of ice reflecting the slowly lightening winter sky as the deep violets depart and the sun climbs higher every day.
As the winter slowly gives way to the budding spring, and life quickens, ready to burst forth, blue marks the beginning of life and emotion.
Blue is the color of the true natural birthstones of those born as the world awaits the vernal equinox and spring (February 19–March 19). This is a time when new life is about to burst forth, a time of faith and trust.
Blue crystals are the crystals of trust. When we seek to become more sincere, act more responsibly, or become more trustworthy or faithful, these crystals give us the focus we require.
Trust is a complex need. We seek to trust others, and we seek to be trustworthy. Most of our interactions with others depend on mutual trust.
Blue crystals are excellent aids in ensuring that we are acting out our lives as worthy of the trust of our friends, acquaintances, and community. Blue crystals are also used for the spiritual cleansing of spaces
The essence of blue crystals is excellent for sprays and other elements of spiritual cleansing regiments.

Blue
Blue crystals are also used for maintaining belief, being faithful, establishing order in one’s life, dealing with betrayal, and overcoming insecurity.
In lighter shades, blue crystals are tempered with subtlety. The color of shallow pools of water reflecting the sky, light blue crystals help us reflect, ponder, question, and relax in our acceptance of the life we have.
Use light blue crystals when you need to develop patience, reconcile differences, or seek forgiveness. They are also used for strength to face reality,
The light blue rays are excellent for recovery efforts from addictions or destructive behavior patterns. They aid in curbing tempers and helping us become mellower and milder. Their rays are potent, and they can help us to change our lives to become more dependable and cheerful. They are helpful in dealing with grief, letting go of the past, and curing guilt.
The darker shades of blue are for enhancing respect and compassion in ourselves. Dark blue crystals teach us humanity, discretion, and honor.
Dark blue crystals help us act more charitably, and focus our efforts on service to others. They teach us grace, sensitivity to the needs of others, and tenderness in our dealings.

There are a number of blue crystals that can be effective in your healing regimens. Here are just a few of them including Azurite, Blue Fluorite, Blue Chalcedony, Lapis Lazuli, and Sapphire.
Azurite

No crystal embodies the pure Blue Ray quite like Azurite.
Azurite tempers the mind; it releases stress and confusion and alleviates worry, indecision, and thoughts that linger in the back of the consciousness.
To restore balance and control over emotions and reactions, simply hold the crystal and ask to have the troublesome thoughts evaporate. It is a rubbing stone that prefers to be touched to release its energies, so when wearing or carrying Azurite, remember to rub it often.
Azurite is a stone for connecting with sacred powers through religious music, such as Gregorian or Buddhist chants, choral music, and hymns; also for healing with sound, especially using the drums, didgeridoo, pipes, or voice.
Azurite lends the courage to overcome negative patterns of behavior stemming from insecurity and fear. It helps those who are deceptive or lie habitually to be more clear and truthful to themselves and to others. It calms those who talk too much out of nervousness and encourages those who hold back from self-expression to verbalize their thoughts and feelings.
Blue Fluorite

Fluorite is one of the most collectible and highly sought-after crystals in the world, loved by mineralogists and metaphysical healers alike. Its remarkable cubes are at times, almost too perfect to believe, emerging like magic treasure in matrix rock, or tightly stacked cube on cube like a futuristic city in miniature.
It carries a calm, stable frequency that brings order to chaos, and scattered and discordant energies into cohesion and harmony.
Blue Fluorite opens channels of communication, both in this reality and between this plane and other worlds. It is wonderful for those having a hard time accepting the here and now to reach out to others.
Wear or carry Blue Fluorite to soften dealings with those who are brutally honest, and in the workplace to communicate logical thoughts that move actions forward when people argue in circles.
Use Fluorite to clear mental fog, confusion, or conflicting ideas, or to quiet worried thoughts and anxiety. It is ideal for overcoming any form of disorganization and is perfect for increasing thought and concentration.
Blue Chalcedony

Blue Chalcedony is a demure crystal, subtle and mystic, cool and serene, ethereal yet solid. It has an inviting, soft blue translucence, and an almost imperceptible movement within the stone that invokes a stillness of silent reverence. It's calming and speaks of spirit and trust.
Blue Chalcedony is an excellent crystal for public speakers and those who speak for a living. Lawyers and political speakers might benefit from touching this stone to the tip of their tongue while listening to their opponents to enhance their counterarguments.
Actors might rub it against their lips and throat, while singers may drink a glass of water in which Chalcedony has soaked for an hour before going on stage. Wearing this crystal around the neck helps overcome stage fright and the fear of public speaking.
As a stone of peace and peace-making, Blue Chalcedony encourages stillness and calm in the home for those at odds with one another, vying for their place in the pecking order. It is also beneficial for daily journeys to work, or stressful trips involving children.
Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is one of the most sought-after stones in use since man's history began. Its deep, celestial blue remains the symbol of royalty and honor, gods, power, spirit, and vision. It is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth.
Lapis Lazuli is a crystal of truth in all aspects. It reveals your inner truth and promotes self-awareness and the acceptance of that knowledge. It provides for the relief of things that may have been suppressed and allows for them to the surface, helping to diminish disease or repressed anger, and allows for self-expression without holding back or compromising.
Lapis encourages dignity in friendship and social ability. It encourages the qualities of honesty, compassion, and uprightness when dealing with others. It provides an awareness of one's motivations and beliefs and gives a clearer perspective of one's whole life. It reveals not only one's limitations but also the opportunities for growth and to utilize one's gifts and abilities.
Sapphire

The magnificent and holy Sapphire, in all its celestial hues, is a stone of wisdom and royalty, of prophecy and Divine favor. It is forever associated with sacred things and considered the gem of gems, a jewel steeped in the history and lore of nearly every religion.
To the ancient and medieval world, the Sapphire of heavenly blue signified the height of celestial hope and faith and was believed to bring protection, good fortune, and spiritual insight. It was a symbol of power and strength, but also of kindness and wise judgment.
Today Sapphire is still a Stone of Wisdom, a royal stone of learning, mental acuity, and psychic activation, a seeker after spiritual truth. Its pure Blue Ray brings order and healing to the mind, lending strength and focus, and an ability to see beneath surface appearances to underlying truths and to utilize that knowledge.
It stimulates the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, allowing one to access deeper levels of consciousness in order to gain a fuller understanding of self. Associated with the planet Saturn, Blue Sapphire embraces order, structure, and self-discipline, and is ideal for accomplishing goals and manifesting ideas into form. Sapphire’s power to transmute negative thoughts and energy also makes it highly effective for earth and chakra healing.

Meditation with Lapis Lazuli

Let’s explore its uses in meditation.
The Color Energy
Lapis Lazuli’s dark blue energy is perfect for enhancing respect and compassion in ourselves. Dark blue crystals teach us humanity, discretion, and honor. They help us act more charitably, and focus our efforts on service to others. They teach us grace, sensitivity to the needs of others, and tenderness in our dealings.
Meditation with Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is a visionary stone, that brings information to the mind in images rather than words. It can be a catalyst for higher awareness and often aids those with past-life connections to ancient civilizations – Atlantis, Egypt, Peru, Sumeria, and India, among others. Meditating with this stone can assist in recovering memories of Lapis Lazuli's past lives, help regain lost knowledge from those civilizations, and inspire evolution in the current incarnation.
Chakra Healing
Blue Lapis Lazuli is associated with the Throat Chakra. The throat chakra is the voice of the body. It is a pressure valve that allows the energy from the other chakra to be expressed. If it is out of balance or blocked it can affect the health of the other chakras.
When it is in balance we can express what we think and what we feel. We can communicate our ideas, beliefs, and emotions.
When the throat chakra is out of balance the physical symptoms may include sore throats, tight jaws, stiff necks, and headaches. Spiritually, you might find yourself habitually lying, feeling fear and doubt about the intentions of others, or find yourself stammering or at a loss for words.
To balance and open the Throat Chakra using Lapis Lazuli, lay down and place the crystal over the Throat Chakra (located at the base of the throat). Close your eyes and imagine a beautiful blue light filling your senses.
Take a deep breath and inhale as you visualize the color blue in the most peaceful way you can imagine. As you exhale, feel the stress and tension leave your body and disperse into the Universe.
Try to repeat this process for 5-10 minutes, or until you feel its calming effects.
