Description: This is a unique and stunning Iron Cross Twin Pyrite Crystal. After Pyrite is pseudomorph Pyrite, meaning the surface has been replaced with Goethite. “Iron-cross twins” are twinned crystals displaying the types of two pentagonal dodecahedra. These twins show edges crossing at 90 degrees, and in a classic twin, these edges structure a cross.
Naturally, the edges that structure the cross are occasionally not consistent or are not equivalent to each other, therefore, a particular crystal that is twinned by the iron-cross law may not always show a genuine cross shape, however, the relationship of the crystals displays the “crossed” symmetry.
