Healing the Heart

The Path of Emotional Growth and Healing extends into the inner circle and to the Creator stone from the South. The journey is aided by the spirit keeper of the South, Shawnodese, his animal totem, the Coyote or Cougar, and by the spirit of the South Wind. The journey has three stones: the Growth Stone, the Trust Stone, and the Love Stone. Each of these stones will help you on your journey around the medicine wheel as you seek to develop a healthy emotional life. The journey to heal the heart begins at the South Wind stone, and continues here, beginning with the Growth Stone.

The first stone on the Path of Emotional Health and Healing from the South in our Medicine Wheel is the Stone of Growth.

The stone is Fluorite, and the Spirit Guide animal is the Rabbit.

Growth is the place on the wheel you begin your emotional healing journeys. Growth means change, expanding, and maturing.

To enrich your emotions and broaden your range of feelings, visit the Growth Stone. It can also enhance your outlook on life as you mature.

Come to this stone, the Fluorite, when you are trying to begin a journey to heal your heart. Do you need to grow from a failed relationship? Do you need to expand your heart in some way? Start with the Fluorite.

Fluorite helps provide perspective and promotes the natural flow of energy within your being. It is believed to relieve depression and bring suppressed feelings to the surface for resolution. It is a stone of personal advancement.

The Growth Stone can also be used for other journeys. Gathering the energy of this stone can enhance both physical maturity, and spiritual maturity. Don’t restrict your travels on the wheel, but take the strength of each stone.

You can also use the animal totem for growth, the Rabbit. Native peoples see the rabbit as a symbol of fertility and the growth of a species. It is the totem for your efforts to grow and mature in physical, emotional and spiritual ways.

Use the Rabbit totem, along with Fluorite, to begin your journey of emotional rebirth. Carry one, or both, or keep them near where you read, meditate, or study. Visit the Growth Stone often.

The second stone on the path of Emotional Growth and Healing is the stone of Trust.

Having confidence, surrendering to life, trusting in others, and trusting in yourself are some of the most difficult things in life. Yet trust is the key to all successful relationships, and the cause of most rifts between individuals.

Visit the Medicine Wheel and come to this stone often.

Lepidolite

The Stone of Trust is the Lepidolite. Lepidolite is an easy stone to use. It is often carved into wands, eggs, and jewelry.

It is a good stone for shamanic journeying, astral travel, and out of body experiences.

Trust Stone Salmon

Lepidolite is often used for healing, grounding, and balancing. As a stone of trust it will enable you to see the good in others, and to see the good in yourself. It will help you believe in yourself and your judgments.

The animal totem of Trust is Salmon. The salmon will do whatever is needed to swim back upsteam to spawn. They will leap obstacles without regard their danger, trusting to instinct.

The Salmon Spirit will teach you to listen to your inner voice, and trust yourself and your vision. Loren Cruden in Compass of the Heart captures this perfectly, "The bear's smashing paw, the eagle's snatching talons, the rock's jagged edge, the fisherman's eager net do not discourage the salmon from its shimmering leap."

The Love Stone

Crystal Totem:    Rose Quartz
Animal Totem:    Wolf
Color:    Rose
Path:    Third Stone of Emotional Path
Wind:    South
Spirit Keeper:    Shawnodese

The third stone on the Emotional path of the South is the stone of Love. This stone is as much about self-love as loving others.

When your heart is damaged, you need to restore faith in yourself. You must love yourself, and believe in yourself. This is the third stone of an emotional journey.

This is where you come when you need to be connected to yourself and others. Here is where you and your heart meld.

The Animal Totem is the Wolf, an animal that places the good of the pack above its own life.

Love Stone Wolf

The Wolf Spirit works with others in a team. It cares for its young. It will teach you loyalty and love for family, friends, and children.

The crystal totem of the Stone of Love is Rose Quartz. It is a stone of the heart, a crystal of Unconditional Love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort.

Rose Quart

It speaks directly to the Heart Chakra, dissolving emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates a Divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfillment and contentment, allowing one the capacity to truly give and receive love from others.

The crystal totem, Rose Quartz, supports connection within groups and community, and carries a high spiritual attunement to the Earth, Universe, and the Divine. It also inspires the love of beauty, in self and others, in nature, and especially that which stimulates the imagination - art, music and the written word.
